A NEED FOR PRAYER

“If I had known grandchildren were so much more fun, I’d have had them first.”

We baby-sat with our 15-month old granddaughter while ago. It was wonderful to watch her. She would explore, engage and sometimes nap. Without words, she said a lot. Without saying, we got what she meant.

One of the most interesting things was watching her lie down for a nap. When she felt she might need a nap she would lay herself down on a blanket on the floor. She would close her eyes and wait to see if she’d fall asleep. She didn’t always sleep – but often she would.

I think of her little gesture now and then. I often feel a need – not for a nap – but for time with the Lord. I don’t always go straight into prayer as I should at those times.

Jesus had the little ones around. “Forbid them not,” He said, “for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.”

Our little one is teaching us to stop and pray.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matt. 19:14 NIV
