CHECKING IN WITH HIM

We have a mailbox that we check every now and then to see if any mail has come. We are still new to Santa Fe, but they sort of know us at the mailbox place now. They seem more than willing to go along with our various mail box requests. That’s the warmth of Santa Fe, and most of New Mexico I would guess.

It got me wondering about the Lord’s check in. Are the pearly gates real similar to airport security? Does our Social Security number count in heaven? Does your driver’s license as a “government issued ID” matter?

Jesus, who taught in parables, put it this way in John 10:2-5 “The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

We are like those sheep. Whatever the Lord’s way, we anticipate His presence and His goodness because they are precious to us. He always knows us. He always cares for us. We have only to follow.
